Water Breathing: Target can breathe underwater.  The target may also be able to move faster than normal swim speed, depending on the spell.

Level 10 is shapeshift. You turn into a shark. Only works underwater.
so five 5% resists, breath water, and a shark effect that only works under water. And it is about 12 billion exp per lvl, where other artifacts are around 5 billion per lvl.

Strategy:

Casyndra is loc 47, 37 Meso.

Casyndra's faction rotates through all 3 factions.  You have to have at least neutral faction with either Naxos, Melos, or Skyros in order to talk to her at all.  The trick to Casyndra is to just keep clicking and clicking and clicking.  eventually she will talk.  waiting around an hour didnt seem like fun to me so i just clicked away for 30 or 40 seconds and POP.  she spoke.   Mar 1 2004

If you have
  • good faction with Naxos, you are asked to kill a Thieving Octapus[Grape mob] ,
  • good faction with Skyros is Razorfin [Yellow con Shark],
  • and good Melos faction you kill Minkhat [Grape mob]. Thieving octapus is loc 65, 12 Meso.
Alvarus' Leggings - Players who do not receive anything from Casyndra's Chest will now receive a message saying they did not find anything in the chest.  (1.69 patch, Apr 14 2004)

Octopus:
I got the octopus encounter this way and got the artifact with only me (50 darkness runemaster), 50 supp spiritmaster, 45 warrior, and 2 buffbots (1 healer, 1 shaman), and that was overkill by a lot, could have easily done it with just warrior and a shaman, if you didnt get adds that is (which we didnt). After the mob was dead, we walked back to the NPC, got the key, opened chest and whalaa! Got the leggings.   Mar 2 2004

I did the octopus with 50 pallie and a 45 and 50 enh clerics. Return Amulet to Casyndra and he drops a key, Use key on chest and leggings appear in inventory.  Dec 10

Minkhat:
While farming scrolls in Kithara's Sanctuary, I happed to roll into Melos Territory. Among the Merfolks I noted a mob named Minkhat minion (OJ con to 50).
I easily Killed him with my SM and Shambot. Then was bumrushed by a red con minion and MINKHAT himself (level 75 mob). Owned.   Dec 13

The shark, Razorfin, for the Alvarus' Leggings encounter will now spawn more frequently.

  • 20k,  37k Meso on the bottom of the ocean in Meso is the best spot for him to appear.  Ive seen him on 4 occasions being killed by others,  and once by myself.  Mar 8 2004  - Berton Ernie
I just finished Alvarus Leggings encounter the easiest way it can be : my 50's savage has lvled a shammy buff bot . The savage being aggro to skyros / friend to others, I easyly dropped scrolls on Melos / Naxos with BB grouped in order to get Skyros faction only with the shammy  (1 or 2 Hours on each faction turn quickly my lvl 35 shammy bot friendly to Skyros).

I killed Razorfin a 1st time, no artifact when I opened the chess, I camped the shark again, it poped 24Hours+ later and then kill it again and this time, the shammy bot received the leggings in the chess : lvl 35.   Apr 6 2004

Tips:

At the end, you use Casyndra's Key on the chest to get the leggings:

You won't always get the leggings - they only have a chance to be given.  Sometimes you'll get loot, sometimes nothing, and sometimes the leggings.  You can, however, get more keys if you need them by doing tasks for Casyndra.  Feb 14
