Level 5 ability: It's a 10-minute duration, self-only run speed buff usable once every 15 minutes. It's about as fast as caster speed. Breaks in combat like a regular speed buff. Nov 27
Level 10 ability: All style damge damage done to you is reduced to 50 for 60 seconds, 15 min recast timer. Dec 30
The stats apparently vary somewhat with realm, since my warrior's Winged Helm is also level 4 and the ability gained at level 3 was 5% matter resist, no spirit. Nov 27 2003

Leveling the Artifact:
Strategy: (scroll down to see how it was soloed)
Hermes is located wandering the eastern half of the island found near loc: 50000 15000 in Oceanus Notos.
(screen shot from Rasken)
Setup: lvl 49 Minstrel and lvl 50 Cleric
Before pulling Hermes make note of the 4 loc's in the walkthrough below. Identify them in game before you pull Hermes.
When the Cleric and I did this, I died, but I did not need too. Since it may be unclear, the harpies you should be using to defeat Hermes are the "frightening harpies" found at loc: 37027 16715.
I used SoS, but sprinting will porobably work just as well. I waited until he reached loc: 368712 605262. I stood between him and the frightening harpy camp next to the patch of trees when I pulled him (loc: 39950 15612). When you pull him, he spawns smaller statues to his aid, and BAFs any in the area.
I pulled with a DD, hit SoS, and then turned and ran right into the middle of the frightening harpies. They all aggroed him.
Not one touched me. The reason I died was because I thought there were too many of his buddies and tried to mezz. They all aggroed me and then I died. Cleric rezzed me and I just waited. I sat and watched them strip him naked and then get him to half life when I started DDing him.
He died around loc: 37403 16728.
The cleric and I were not in a group, but we were in a battle group and we both got credit. Mar 17 2004

When this was soloed:
I soloed the winged helm & here's how i did it. I waited till hermes was at the other statues that looked like him, then i snare pulled him & ran him to the harpies at the SW corner near the ruins. Afterwards he had several harpies on him & then i died do to the minions, i hit /released swam back & found him almost dead in which i finished him off & got the helm. I was on my level 48 skald Gudrek from Mid/Gawaine. Jan 28

Bard friend and I (47Champ) tested soloing the winged helm encounter its very ez to solo just as the skald did. Did it once with just bard all you have to do is pull hermes to harpies, sit/die release run back and get in one hit before hermes dies, and u get credit and helm. Did it again today with a few people to get them credit, if you add people to the group as your run back they also get credit. Feb 19

Tips:
This is just a sidenote, because there can sometimes be a lack of harpies at the other end of the island. To correct this, run around the island and kill off the harpies in the area where all the statues walk around. The harpies will respawn where they are supposed to be after 10-15 minutes or faster. We waited or should I say Bigvato waited for about 15hr for hermes to spawn. Hermes probably spawns about 12hr or so after death. Acording to CSR its random spawn time if he spawns at all. The smaller statues are part of his timing, when he spawns so do the smaller statues when he dies. Little by little they all die out. The frightening harpies aren't the friendlest but they seem to not like hermes more. We waited about 3hrs for him to spawn we were on other side of island when he poped and someone else got him. Oh by the way on the other side of the island you can get Kalare's Necklace 4 or 5 times while you wait for hermes and there are plenty of harpys to fight while you wait also. Aug 15 2004

Just a tip for winged helm. I did it solo (with my minstrel) with the help of my buffbot. I pulled Hermes to the frightening harpies, I died, i had placed the bb near, so i got rezzed/rebuffed and i attacked him when he was almost dead. Just w8 for the right moment to pull Hermes, best thing is to pull him when he is
near the frightening harpies. Apr 22 2004

Camped Scheria island for six hours waiting for Hermes to spawn and this is what I found out: Just before he spawns a flock of herpies (50 to 100) fly from the east end of the island and into the distance, they flew right over me but did not aggro me. Right after the herpies flew by the small statues started spawning slowly incresing in numbers and five minutes latter there was Hermes, he came from the east end of island and walked around in the middle of the statues that look like him.
I was battle grouped with a paladin (I'm an armsman) and the pally pulled him then sat at the frightening herpies and died, we were ungrouped so Hermes did not aggro me. I waited till Hermes was at about 5% health then started hiting him, I got the helm and died to the herpies. The pally was only half way back to the island but still got credit.
I tried solo before the paladin showed up but when I died and got back to the island Hermes was not by the herpies and was walking around full health, I'm not sure why the herpies did not kill him that time. Apr 2 2004
