- The casting time for the Witchcraft Powerless Primer "Skillful Cast" is too fast, as a player with sufficient dexterity and % to casting equipment can reach casting speeds under 2 seconds, which I feel was not intended by the game's developers. The speed with which this particular primer can be cast, and the fact that the it still allows the user to have a very high delve Hexing spec lifetap skews the Warlock's damage over time, where in my opinion, the Warlock should fall substantially behind a primary caster as a trade off for both it's utility, the ability to output substantial DPS while out of power, and frontloading capabilities of the class. The speed of the powerless primer also serves to reduce the attractiveness of the Cursing Specline, which is under utilized. I would suggest a 3 second hardcap on the powerless primer.
- The Baseline Cursing, and Cursing Specline spells should be reduced in their cast times - I feel the 4 second hardcap on this line makes it very difficult for curses to be used in open field combat - or even most siege situations. I would recommend the 4 second hard cap on cursing spells be lowered to 3-2.8 seconds, to compensate for the lower utility of the cursing line,
- I recommend a base Hexing line be added to the Warlock spell lists to help improve the viability of the Cursing Spec - this line should include the Spell of Greater Healing line from the Cursing specline, the spell of crawling line from specline Hexing, and the Infernal Erosion line from the Hexing spec list. In the process of this, I would suggest a 20%-30% reduction in the potency of the DoT and Heal.
- The Hexing Spellbinder's Burst PBAoE line should be moved to the Cursing Specline. This would establish the Cursing Specline as the primary damage line of the Warlock, with a Bolt, Direct Damage, and Point Blank Area of Effect, and the Hexing Specline as the utility spec, with a Lifetap, Nearsight, Spread Heal, and Power Regeneration.
- Witchcraft Specline Chambers should require the caster to be out of combat to fire - like many of the various realm abilities, and realm rank 5 powers. This will reduce the Warlock's survivability once engauged in melee by various classes, such as light tanks and assassins, who are designed to kill soft targets. Currently, chambered lifetaps, when used in conjunction with the uninterruptable casting primer, makes the Warlock far too durable once caught in melee, and does so without the necessity of high realm rank class skills, or expensive realm abilities like physical resistance 5 and mastery of concentration 3.
- The Warlock's Cursing Specline Cursed Detaining Root series should be moved to the Warlock's Baseline Cursing tree, to help with it's reduced survivability due to the out of combat restrictions placed on the Warlock's chambers. This would also place the Warlock on even grounds with most other casters, who have some form of baseline crowd control.
- The Warlock's Hex Spec Beguiling Hex Specline lifetap is too potent, and is the primary culprit for most of the complaints regarding both the Warlock's overpowering frontload and it's DPS over performing. I would recommend a 10%-15% reduction in the damage of this spell to help curb these issues.
Below would be an example of the Warlock's Spell lists if my recommendations were followed:
