Might will significantly increase you and your merc's weapon damage. Concentrait on damage reduction and leech gear, such as vampire gaze and shaftstop to keep your merc alive and healthy. Honor elite cryptic axes make superb mercenary weapons.

The amazon is possibly Diablo 2's most versatile class. She has three open roads, each of which is not only playable to higher levels, but dominates most aspects of the game. She is unmatched with a bow, and at the same time, is quite able to mix it up in a melee with a spear or javelin. It should be noted, that while an amazon CAN hand-to-hand, this is not necessarily the OPTIMAL role for her. Her melee skills, particularly fend, truly shine v.s. boss monsters, and are best when reserved for such occasions. For the rest of the game, a great bow or javelin stack will keep your amazon dropping besties like flies.

The priorities for an amazon are - The wickedest, most damaging bow or javelin she can lay her hands on, items that increase running speed, hit recovery, cold damage, and items that "slow target's movement." There are many superb choices for bows, with Lycander's Aim, Goldstrike Arch, and the Buriza-Do Kyanon being not only very powerful, but also relatively easy to come by. For the rich, Eaglehorn and Windforce are so godlike that they reduce virtually any monster into a puddle of ooze in one or two shots. For the truly destitute, a cruel elite bow can be purchased from a vendor.

Another powerful alternative is the javazon, the javelin wielding equivalent of the bowazon, whose lightning enchanted projectiles decimate any groups of monsters who are not immune. In places with particularly tight packs of monsters, javazons are almost impossible to exceed in killing power.

Continuing on, the art of playing an amazon is learning how to fight an effective running offense. Attack, fall back, attack, fall back, rinse and repeat - it becomes obvious that items granting the best possible hit recovery, extended stamina, and enhanced running speed are CRITICAL to the success of these fighters. An amazon's true strength lies in her passive skills - critical strikes, dodges, and her decoys, which begin to stack very rapidly, and the overlapping bonuses make even mediocre weapons like the bow and javelins into devastating engines of destruction. An amazon can survive being swarmed briefly, as her evasion skills will keep her alive for a WHILE, but she has no where NEAR the life-span of a druid, barbarian or paladin in a crowd, so you will want, (NEED), to keep moving. Your valk and decoys, as well as mercenary, will be invaluable in occupying monsters attention while you ventilate them from afar.

Attribute points are difficult to allocate for an amazon, as she is so multifaceted that every skill needs some attention. But her dex should receive the lion's share of your attention, as it will not only drastically up her chance to hit enemies, but also increase her base damage. A decent strength is good, but don't overdo it - lighter armors reduce the stamina her drain, and she NEEDS to run. Passive skills will do most of an amazon's evasion anyways. Energy needs to be ignored, in favor of mana stealing equipment, and hit point/resistance can easily be stacked through the use of charms.
