Mercenary Tips:
You need a tank that can stand alone against hords of monsters while you fry them from afar.

The sorceress is a powerful spell castor, who's specialty is crowd control. She is the queen of spells that deal terrible damage to a HUGE area. But, she pays for this at the cost of melee skill and durability. The main concerns for a sorceress are mana bonus/regen gear, bonus skill points, and fastest run/walk equipment.

To stay alive, a sorceress has to totally fill an area with damaging attack magic, and this gets spendy in the mana dept. Acquiring anything that increases her rate of mana regen or total mana pool is a no brainer. Also, when the baddies DO survive you dropping everything up to, and including the kitchen sink on them, you need to be able to get out - fast. (Or become monster chow, your choice).

One of the great powers of the sorceress is her ability to slice through immunities. By choosing carefully which skills she invests in, a sorceress can essentially ignore immune monsters, and cut a swath of carnage and maiming through any pack. Recomended skills to choose from are firewall, hydra, thunderstorm, nova, chain lightning, frozen orb, glacial spike, meteor, and their respective masteries. You will typically want to choose two skills from different trees from the list above, and pump them to a high level. Lightning is a recomended choice, as many of your passive tool skills lie there, such as teleport, telekenisis, and energy shield. Make up for this "spreading" about of you skill points with bonus to skill gear, such as the Occulus, and Skins of the Viper Magi. If your resistances are suffering, the unique dagger Wizardspike will boost you through the roof.

The "sorce's" failings will become apparent if the baddies ever GET to her however. A few quick blows will shred her into maggot feed, and the sorceress is easily stun-locked. Point is, if the monsters GET to you, you die. Use teleport to play keep away games, and rely on energy shield when you get caught in a tight space. One point in a cold armor can also buy you that extra heartbeat you need to teleport away.

Character points need to be split between mana and life, but early on, placing 80-100 in strength is an excellent idea. This will let her don some of the heavier armor, and this will be an asset early on, when a sorceress is at her weakest. If your having trouble maintaining your spells, you might want to consider investing in the skill warmth, as it will increase the speed with which your mana regenerates.
